The Grief Recovery Method helped me come to terms with the unravelling of my marriage, the loss of the relationship with the person I thought I would spend my life with. It forced me to look at both the good and the bad aspects of my relationship through a commitment to total honesty. For the last year I have been very focused on villainizing my ex-spouse from a place of hurt, anger and grief. Through the relationship graph, I was able to look back and see that there were moments that were good in the relationship, and those needed to be acknowledged as a part of my healing journey. Writing the letter at the very end of the program was incredibly therapeutic, being able to say the things that I have maybe said to others about my relationship, but never had the opportunity to say to my ex-spouse. I am incredibly grateful that the Grief Recovery Method found me!

This program helped me to look at grief and loss through a completely different lense. I saw that things I did not realize we're losses were tremendous losses. I plan on using the Grief Recovery Method to work through many other losses I have experienced.

I've been working on my personal growth since 2008. This programme was really helpful compared to the courses, reading and coaching I've done so far. The Grief Recovery Method helped me deal with some upsetting features of my life, that I couldn't before. Jess' empathy and listening, and her ability to speak into what I was feeling made it possible. I did this with an incredible group of people too. I'll never forget it.

I now have processes and methods to become complete with any relationship. I feel I have more work to do to get complete with the relationship with my Dad but I do have a way to work on it now. I would have liked the program to be a bit longer to help me get in the habit of completing relationships.

the group setting was great for me because of my resistance to doing the homework. Sandy was very supportive & encouraging when I contacted her between classes to address that reluctance

I feel very fortunate to have found this program and I wholeheartedly believe that everyone would benefit from knowing the information and tools it makes available. There is a lot of misinformation about grief in our culture which leaves people feeling confused and conflicted when it comes to how to be and how to act around grief (whether our own or other people's). This program counterbalances the myths about grief and provides both clarity and emotional relief for people lucky enough to be able to participate. In addition, Jess is an outstanding and compassionate facilitator who I would trust to take anyone through this work with love and grace.

The program helped me to think about things from my past that needed to be dealt with. There were many good things, like first day of school, scouts and other related happy memories and there was also sad or things I may have been sad or ungrateful about. I was able to look at them all and share these feelings with another very trusted group partner. Some emotions I had not shared with any body else.

The Grief Recovery Method provides an excellent step by step process to understanding loss and moving towards recovery. It helped me discover some things I needed to say in order to complete this process. It also helped me uncover some losses in my life that need more work.

It made me think about some situations. It also gave me some closure and peace at the end.

I did find the first 3-4 weeks quite slow, with all these rules I found opposing to my ideas of empathy and understanding. But as the weeks progressed I realized the first half of the course was setting the stage, teaching us new valuable ideas to not only deal with our grief, but also dealing with someone else's grief and what should and should not be said or done. By the last week and last exercise, the concept made much more sense and I appreciated how our Facilitator, Lorri, outlined weekly what to do, and lured us to come back to complete the process. I would recommend this, and even suggest it before someone ends up with a backpack full such as what I came in with. Thank you Lorri

Hit the mark for some things, missed on others. I hoped to find a way to rejoin the world but still wake up every day and go through the motions.

It has helped me to deal with grief in a much better way. By better understanding what grief is and how to process grief I’ve been able to deal with heavy situations in life in a much better way.

The book was excellent. It does need to be rearranged for a better flow in reading and teaching, but we were told about this ahead of time. I will be sharing this book with others and have already recommended the class. The death of your only child is impossible to explain and cope with. Although we did this two months after his death, we felt strongly this would be the best path for us to go forward in order to honor our son's life and be able to honor our own journey. We loved that it was held at a church in a loving and supportive atmosphere. Each loss and grief experience is so unique, but being able to look into the eyes of another human and know that you "know" we are there to help each other through ... is essential. Valuiable and human.

This form needs work, I clicked outstanding but all stars were chosen. The class made is easy to break down my emotions in palatable sections, unpacking my emotions to figure out how I felt about my loss.

This program helped me understand that grief if a natural emotional response to any loss in my life. When I first started, I thought grief was just about death and I was taught a lot of misleading information about it, but everything I learned was helpful and will be a great way to apply in many different relationships in my life.
