Testimonials For One-on-One Support
I initially started the program to help learn how to process the tragic death of my sister-in-law, but in doing all of the work I learned a lot about myself and how a past unresolved trauma was taking up more space in my life and heart than I recognized. I was blown away at the revelation and feel freedom from the pain I was carrying around!

This program and my facilitator have been an amazing blessing from God! During this process, I was able to learn so much about myself, and I truly grew as a person. Although I still miss my loved one immensely, I can remember him with joy and peace. I was especially thankful of structured, step-by-step process that was used. It allowed me to pace myself and completely reflect on the wonderful relationship I had with my brother. I will admit that the program was hard work, and tears were shed. However, it was all worth it!

I have learned new ways to think about my grief and different strategies I can use to help reframe my grief experiences when they happen. The Grief Recovery System has helped me better understand areas where my grief may be coming from and how to process those feelings.

The grief recovery method is amazing. I came to the program shaken due to the death of my son two years prior. As I worked thru the program I came to realize it was not just the loss of my son that had sent me off balance. A year prior I had a cancer diagnosis, chemo and radiation and experienced complete disability. I never realized these were also important losses. The program helped me work thru and become complete. Forever changed, I now have the mindset to be sure all is "complete" Thank you to my facilitator Susan M. Frechette, LCSW of Putnam, Ct., she honors your program and is an incredible asset. My wonderful Mother passed away in August of 2019. Our Home Hospice Grief Counselor encouraged me to go through the 7 week One On One course. We finished last week on Tues., Nov.12th, 2019. I feel better equipped now to deal with not only the death of my beloved Mother, but other emotional losses as well. The Grief Recovery Method gave me a whole new way to think about my grieving and how to reframe my feelings and emotions. I would highly recommend this program to anyone suffering from emotional losses.

Each week Eileen explained the handbook chapter for that part of the process. I spent time reflecting on the content of the text in relation to my life and I interiorized the chapter before I wrote any homework. At first I had a reaction to facing the pain I thought I had already dealt with in the past. But as we met weekly and I spoke aloud my experience I had a growing sense of “getting it out” and really being honest no matter how it sounded. Eileen’s presence was affirming and compassionate even though she spoke not. The final weeks’ homework became more difficult making me feel somewhat de-energized. Then after I read all that I wrote there was relief and new energy. By the time I wrote my letter I had spent every bit of energy I could on the grief recovery process for my completion of pain and for my healing. May I say that throughout these weeks I gave honest attention to my own inner pain and loss and “got it out” because your process worked for me. I now feel ready to know completion in my life. The truth is you have touched a nerve by the way you reveal the core issues of loss and pain. Your beautiful handbook and Eileen’s guidance have given me back to myself. I am so grateful.

It was very important for me to talk about the loss of my 19 year old daughter and process my feelings of despair. The Grief Recovery Method helped me to release my feelings in a way that was comfortable for me.

The Program facilitated a life review of loss and helped in my processing of these losses. It helped me recover from grief related to the loss of my husband as well as older losses in the past that were important then, and that I was able to process and relate to my well-being today.

I was given the book with a friend and about halfway through I knew I needed someone to get through this process with me. I didn’t want to open up to a family member or friend; for me, it was better to open up to a grief counselor. I’m so grateful.

The program has helped me process grief in a healthy way by equipping me with the tools to properly grieve my loss. It also helped to see ways that kept me in bondage. I feel freer and more available to give of myself.

I began this process after receiving the The Grief Recovery Method book from a friend. I read the entire first part and realized I needed counseling support to help me through the activities. While I could have worked with a family member or good friend, I really wanted to work with someone who didn't know me that well and who would have my full attention throughout the 7 weeks. I went online and read several biographies on the many counselors and found Francine Masterson; I knew I made the right choice after the first session. Francine is a gifted listener and guide throughout this process, I cannot thank her enough for her kindness, empathy, and patient listening over these several weeks. She has been a tremendous blessing to me.
