The program provided a lot about which to think. First, the definition of grief was a very inclusive and a different perspective, causing me to identify many incidents of loss/ grief during my life. The presentation of myths and STERBs helped me to identify behaviors and feelings that I had unknowingly experienced or done. The Loss Graph and Relationship Graphs were extremely helpful in identifying specific losses and then in guiding my focus to one particular loss. Categorizing my thoughts under apologies, forgiveness and significant emotional events was a very good way to organize my thoughts for the completion letter. The final chapters furnished me with sequential steps, providing a way to identify and take action to finish my incomplete communications. The journey through the program was very emotional, with the realization that I had buried many feelings and incomplete communications. At the completion of the program. I felt relieved to have identified and addressed those previously buried thoughts and feelings. I do feel a sense of completion.

I truly felt a release after reading the letter out loud. It was never so hard to say good-bye and it was almost 24 years since I lost my husband, father to our children. I can't imagine a better teacher/facilitator than Suzanne Accardo. She listened intently and never judged. A very emotional experience but one worth going through.

The Grief Recovery Program helped me to process the areas where I was getting stuck in my grief. It helped me let go of the pain I was holding on to and I learned ways to express how I was feeling in other healthy ways. Denise Demarco did a wonderful job of being a witness to my pain and I felt her empathy throughout the program. She had also lost loved ones so I felt very connected to her because she could understand what I was going trough.

The structure and the homework was helpful to me. I found some of the language in the text a bit dated but I was able to get a lot out of my experience by finding and following what was helpful and leaving the rest. I would highly recommend to others that they work with a professional if possible, had I just picked up the book I may not have stuck with it on my own.

This program opened my eyes to see loss, grief, forgiveness and apologies in a more positive constructive light. I was given tools to recognize losses in my past where there were incomplete communications affecting my life today. And how to complete these. I love this program. It is short, direct, and effective.

This program really helped me understand my emotional reaction to the recent loss of my mom. The feelings and emotions I was experiencing were the result of learned behaviors dealing with a lifetime of loss. I trusted the process not knowing where it would lead, but knowing that I wanted to stop the downward spiral. And it did! This process brought clarity to my emotions and my relationship with my mom. I am forever grateful to Cindy who was perceptive, open, empathetic, and created a safe space of honesty and vulnerability.

It has done everything & more than I expected! It has taught me how to deal with past relationships that have continued to form the basis of my present life. It's also taught me how to set boundaries and manage expectations! But mist of all it's made me look at life again as something worth living!!

Thank you so much for this program. It has helped me unpack some long standing hurts and grief, many that I didn’t even realize were affecting me. It has also enabled and empowered me to walk through forgiveness for the things that were done and that I have done to others in past relationships. I am forever grateful to have found this method, and I will be using it again to walk through more unresolved relationship losses. Thank you again.

I never really had a specific loss or death experience to work with on the grief recovery program. I wanted to work on self-confidence and how I lost faith in myself. I was very afraid to look into what I lost in my life. But when I looked back at what I lost, I found that I have to work on grief to recover. I decided to work on my relationship with my mother. I found many painful and joyous experiences from our relationship. It was a beautiful process letting go the pain with forgiveness and accepting the unique relationship with love.

After the tragic and unexpected loss of my teenage son I knew I needed help. I knew I would just curl up in depression and stay in my bed all day if I didn't get the help I needed. So, two months after the loss of my son I started therapy. I knew in my heart I had to do this for not only me but my family. My surviving children still needed their mom and my husband still needed his wife. I will miss my son everyday but this taught me to talk about him and not be closed up as I would normally react to traumatic situations.

Having a safe environment that encouraged acceptance and empathy helped me to scour every aspect of my grief. I also appreciated and needed the encouragement to keep doing the assignments when my emotions felt otherwise.

George was compassionate and he offered insight into my grief that helped with the healing process. I felt safe to share difficult memories, and we walked through it together. I saw God help me forgive and heal from the pain that was associated with the relationship, where I am able to move forward with hope and freedom in Jesus. I'm so thankful for this program and George is an incredible Pastor and friend.
