This program has taught me that even though I think I was helping people by saying some of the Myths it was actually hurting them more. It makes me think before I talk now and try to do the best that I can do to help my kiddos through the grief.

Grief Recovery has changed the way I think and the way I parent my children. I always assumed that grief was something you have to keep to yourself and keep pushing. To sit in class and have someone truly listen to me and hear me changed my life! I have these tools now to help me process and work through anything that my cause me grief/sadness.

I feel more equipped to be helpful when children that I am working with or in my personal life experience a loss or grief. I now recognize myths about grief that many perpetuate and see the negative ramifications of these myths as well as the STERBs that are often used to avoid or postpone dealing with these normal emotions. I do not believe I will ever approach a loss the same since completing the program, "When Children Grieve" and I think that is a very good thing! I will always now strive to be a heart with ears and will focus much less on trying to fix things. I will definitely "go first" and share my emotions to invite the young people in my life to share their feelings if they are able and willing.

In my profession, there have frequently been times when emotions are not closed. The GRM has given me a tool to reflect and close that experience when resolution with the other party is not possible. It is a process that I would love to be trained in to offer with the employees I supervise to help them do the same thing.
