Testimonials For Candace Pambrun, RSW
I have gained a healthier perspective of my 1% of control, within my individual relationships. I can go forward with less judgement, and more respect for each relationship.

I have finally have rid of my anger with the terrible relationship I had throughout my life with my mother! She is no longer alive, but I had so much resentment towards her, and the Grief Councilling help me get it off my shoulders as I have never told anyone how I felt. I will be taking more with the recent death of my oldest son, but I cannot deal with his death yet, as it has been most recently. When I am ready I will attend the course again and go through our relationship we had with each other before he passed away. The course I have taken has given me confidence to deal with other relationships in my life! I truly appreciated the help from the course and the Coordinator’s, would take it again anytime!

It has brought an awareness of what Grief really is...not just about physical death. I am able to use the Grief Recovery Method in other areas of my life now... which means healing is always present.

This was a very emotional course for me and many times I thought to myself “why am I doing this to myself”. I strongly urge anyone that has the ability to fight through the intense emotions to do so and complete this course. Although it wasn’t easy for me I am very glad I stayed until the end.

When the 1st couple of classes I started to feel and think differently. Which helps me to deal with my situation in a more positive way.

With this program being a training exercise and not a recovery program, there was some activities that seemed not-relevant as the group was not in an active recovery state but rather a learning state. Most of us are sitting in our offices, or a shared space, needing to go to classes/meetings within minutes of the program ending. This makes it difficult to 1. be vulnerable and 2. understand the full experience.

The book described a different way to cope with loss than I'd ever heard about. For example, Discovery and Completion are an amazing way to look at loss. The Apologies, Forgiveness, Significant Emotional Statements, and Fond Memories are extremely helpful to help oneself and others to process uncommunicated feelings. The Emotional Energy Checklists are useful tools to help oneself or others put feelings into some sort of sequence and write a completion letter.

I had no idea that grief could be so strong and unresolved in relationships that don't end in death. It's been life changing to know the myths, have the tools and now be able to help my granddaughter with her grief.

This program has helped me to understand the importance of apologies, forgiveness and statements of emotional energy that must be a part of the grief recovery process and that behind every person with "issues" is someone who has not gone through the completion of the grieving process. Also that feeling sad is not bad, and that anger is a mask for sadness. The only way we can effectively help children or other people grieve is if we own our own "stuff". It's not about what we have to say, it's about what they have to say.

This program is amazing. I have been able to move through my grief... which I wasn't fully aware of how much it occupied my life until I addressed it. Saying Good-bye is very beneficial for me. This program gives me the tools to keep practicing my recovery for my well-being.
