Testimonials For Support Groups
The myths about grief helped. I did not expect to go over my many losses when I first started, but I’m grateful that I did. My biggest fear was that completing grief would lead me to forget my wife and I was so used to swimming in sadness that I would not know how to recover. Completing is not forgetting-valuable lesson.

On a personal level I feel like this was a mixed experience. i enjoyed learning about the process, but i do not feel it addressed my personal grief and needs. It brought back a lot of negative experiences and trauma that I have worked hard to work through in the past, which has negatively impacted me emotionally. I did find the four statement areas to be useful. Creating those was more beneficial to me than writing the letter or saying them to another person. Some of this might be internal as I prefer working on things like this alone as opposed to in groups.

The program has assisted me in saying good bye to my mother who has Dementia/Alzheimer's and to embrace the mother that I still physically have.

This program has helped me to develop a better outlook on today’s society. I was torn apart with grief before my encounter with this agency. Now I can honestly say I can face life with a better perspective of grief. Yolanda is a remarkable blessing from God himself. She also demonstrated passion and zeal to help my healing recovery a success. I will be forever grateful to have completed this recovery with Yolanda. Thank you for allowing my heart to smile.

I've learned that grief doesn't just include death, but living relationships as well. I have a couple relationships I struggle with, and am excited to work through the process to complete the relationship. My in class partner and I are going to continue to get together to share, as we both found it fundamental in the process of grief. Thank you for taking the time and caring that others can grieve well and completely.

I know the work that I have left to do and feel empowered to complete it. I see the value in the program and believe it can address so much dysfunction in life. trauma, addictive behavior, anxiety, depression. The program facilitator was excellent and was clearly transformed through the power of the program and so inspired by that, that her passion comes through in all her teaching The program helped me to organize my loss in my mind with a coherent story that contained both aspects of my memories(positive and painful) to create a more balanced and truthful timeline of my relationships. It helped my to understand myself and how I relate to others more so than years of therapy, .

This program has brought clarity and confidence to the natural occurence of loss and/or emotional unrest brought on through the sources of grief. I have a healthy desire to apply this method to the remaining areas of grief concerns that have not been addressed.

Speaking as a college graduate, Navy veteran, former Drug and Alcohol counselor, brother, son, husband, father and grandfather...WOW, I had to wait almost 60 years to learn what grief was, and gain positive tools that are life enhancing and life changing!

I was very happy to participate in this class. I had a lot to deal with that I had brushed under the rug, or that was unresolved. Throughout this class, I have learned a lot about myself and have been able to understand things differently that I've carried with me for years. I am able to move on and felt like I took the time to work on some things I've struggled with for 15+ years. This class helped me learn how to deal with loss and helped me get closure for things I never thought I would get closure for. I am proud of my progress. Thank you!

I learned from the vulnerability of the authors. I appreciate that we had small groups and feeling listened to by other members. Knowing that someone was listening helped me share and be brave with honesty. I learned how to verbalize my thoughts and feelings. I’m able to let go of blame, shame, and fear. I am a little sad it’s over so I’m glad I went through it and can use the methods for other relationships.

Opened my eyes to how much I was struggling with losing much of my abilities in a car accident. I was grieving my old self. My new self had to write a letter to my old self.
