Hi! My name is Susan and I’m so glad you are considering the Grief Recovery Method. I want to share with you where my journey with grief began.

I was completely devastated when my 33 year old sister, Julie, unexpectedly died from a heart attack. I felt like a part of my heart died with her, and I desperately searched for what could heal my broken heart. In 2002, that search led me to the Grief Recovery Method, which healed my heart and also equipped me with tools to recover from other losses in my life. The impact of this program was so life-changing I decided to become a Grief Recovery Method Specialist. Since then I have helped hundreds of grievers in both the Los Angeles area and, after moving in 2010, in the greater Austin, Texas, area. Over many years, the ripple effect of doing this work has healed hearts as far as Cambodia, Russia, Ukraine, and the Philippines. What began in total devastation became more than I could ever ask or imagine.

On the anniversary of my sister’s death in 2010, I was asked to become a GRM Specialist Trainer. Several losses, including my father's death and mother's dementia, temporarily postponed this dream, but I am now honored to be able to expand the hope and healing of this work by training others to become GRM Specialists. At the beginning of 2020, I joined the Institute's GRM Specialist Support team to help Specialists worldwide.

My background includes teaching, acting, dance, public speaking, and ministry leadership. I graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a BA in Psychology, and have had the privilege of being a contributing author for three books, primarily on the topic of grief.

I offer a variety of GRM programs: 8 and 12-week Grief Recovery Support Groups, 1-on-1 Grief Support, Helping Children with Loss, Pet Loss, Grief Recovery Weekend Workshops, and GRM Specialist Certification Training. Each of these programs can be taught either in-person or online.
