My name is Catherine Wayne. I became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® after losing my horse of 20 years. The loss of my horse was my last straw, and it brought me to my knees. The weight of losing my horse was so heavy that the compounding effect was not just one loss, but all my losses too.
Major health changes from my childhood to my adulthood were included in my cascade of grief. It took me two months to relearn how to do a natural thing-breathe. There was no “net” to stop my fall. I did not know what I needed, but I knew what I did not need.
By pure chance, I happened to meet someone who had gone through The Grief Recovery Method® with a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®. She found the program to be very helpful, so I went through the process myself. My experience with the Grief Recovery Method® worked so well for me that I decided to become a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist® to help others. It would be an honor to use my knowledge and experience to help you too.
I have a BA with Departmental Honors in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin and Associate of Science in Pre-Med. My primary focus of research was the effects of stress on the body.
For fun, my first love is horses, but I enjoy working with and helping all animals. I also love art and enjoy working with water-based paints and pencils. I have a few book ideas that I look forward to writng and illustrating.
