Born and raised in Labrador (Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada), DeeDee is a wife, grandma, and a mother of three (one in spirit).
Growing up, DeeDee learned of deep losses from her Grandmother who was orphaned at the age of 6 when the Spanish Flu decimated the Inuit community of Okak, in Northern Labrador.
After a lifetime of her own losses including divorce, suicides, loss of trust, and the loss of pets, the biggest and most impactful loss was the death of her teenage daughter after a brief battle with leukaemia. A variety of therapies and counsellors left her feeling a little more able to cope, but the Grief Recovery Method helped her begin to LIVE again.
She is available to provide the following Grief Recovery Method Programs:
* Online 7-week 1:1 sessions
* In-person 7-week 1:1 sessions in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Northwest River, and Sheshatshiu Innu FIrst Nation
* In-person 8 week group sessions in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Northwest River, and Sheshatshiu Innu First Nation
* In-person 4 week alumni group in Happy Valley-Goose Bay
** in Autumn 2024 - the 4 week Helping Children With Loss group for parents, and other adults who work with children (volunteers, child protection workers, teachers, etc)
DeeDee is a Registered Nurse and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, with a background in mental health and public health nursing.
When not working, she enjoys sewing, beadwork, painting, gardening, and spending time with her husband, grandson and her two adult children.
