Hi - I'm Jacqueline Werket.. I'm a registered nurse and a board certified nurse practitioner. My work has been with adult patients - for 33 years or more. I loved being able to connect and listen to my patients. I also worked in the field of mental health; working with patients with anxiety, depression, PTSD and substance use disorder.. I have also worked in hospice home care and palliative care, and helped members of the Somalia community with their compounded grief.
I found the Grief Recovery Method in about 2018. The process really impressed me especially the action steps. When I applied them the process really healed me. I was a bit skeptical - but it works! And I learned that there isn't any time-frame for grieving - and that you can start to heal immediately or years after the loss.
In my practice as. a nurse practitioner I encountered and helped people with multiple losses. I've had multiple losses as well; my son to leukemia, a brother killed in a hunting accident at age 25, aunts, parents and cousins. I struggled with them on my own. When my son died my husband left 4 months later. I had to move in with strangers. No one mentioned Ian's name and although I was devastated I ended up stuffing my grief for ten years and the unresolved grief affected me in many ways I didn't understand. The grief came up again after I remarried and had another child. Reaching out for help changed my life.
I'm thrilled to have been trained as a Grief Recovery Method Specialist. My last group was cancelled in 2020 due to Covid 19. I'm excited to begin again this summer. I work with adults who have lost loved ones-recently or in the distant past. I just finished writing a memoir about grieving my son's death ten years after he died. I'm looking for a literary agent to represent A Grief Postponed.
Please contact me if you're interested in knowing more, or in setting up an appointment to see if I'm a good fit for you. My email is [email protected] I live in the Twin Cities in Minnesota.
