My name is Johnr Davidson, pronounced either John-are or John-er. I am a father and a Grandfather. 

It is well known that grief is cumulative, grief increases by successive losses. I suffered 2 divorces and the death of all 4 Grandparents without fully grieving. Perhaps I thought I had grieved, I was sad, in pain, and I wept. I was young and didn't really understand what grief work was.

My personal journey into grief recovery began as the result of many losses in a relatively short period of time. The death of my father was followed 2 years later by the death of my mother. One month later I was hospitalized with a 4% chance to survive a deadly condition. I ended up on disability as I was unable to work. As I was recovering physically over the next 2 years, I provided end of life care to my wife of 20 years as her health declined and died of cancer.  2 years later I was forced to forclose my home and 2 acre property. I divested my belongs and moved into a small travel trailer on property belonging to friends. I re-homed 2 dogs and 3 cats at this time. I was truly devastated. Grief effected every aspect of my life: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. I became so desperate in life, so filled with pain and suffering, I found myself immobilized. I had to find a way to recover  my life, find a way out of my sense of hopelessness.

A friend recommended I reach out to a person in my local area who was a Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist. It was suggested I enroll in an upcoming GRI group. I eagerly did so. I was amazed at the self discovery I found in the program. The pain and suffering decreased, I began to become functional in life. I was so deeply grateful. I made a promise right at this point I would develope the skills neccessary to help others in their loss, their pain and suffering. I would learn to provide others with the gifts I had received from the Grief Recovery Method. The following year I became certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.

I now offer in person 1 on 1 programs and in person groups on the western slope of the Sierra Nevada foothills. I live and thrive in the Grass Valley/Nevada City areas of Northern  California. Whether a person has experienced loss of self, loss of property, deaths, or divorce I am able to meet them in their losses from a place of empathy, compassion, and caring. This is the work of my Soul in the world. I bring dedication and passion serving myself through serving others in the world in this way. I am a very grateful man. 

I have been a member of The Mankind Project for 18 years. I have completed many trainings in MKP. These include group and individual facilitation processes, and leadership trainings. I completed the course offering called "Unpacking Power, Priveledge and Difference" to more deeply understand racism,classism,sexism, and ageism, and how isms relate in our world views, and how to be an ally to marginalized groups. I am comfortable working with non-binary gender groups.
