LaTonya Hill is the Owner of Overcoming Hurdles of Grief, LLC. She is located in Akron, Ohio, and is passionate about helping individuals find hope and healing in their journey with grief and loss. LaTonya obtained a Grief Recovery Methods Specialist Certificate through the Grief Recovery Methods Institute in 2020.
LaTonya graduated and earned her Bachelor of Behavioral Science degree in Educational Psychology from Mississippi State University in 1999. LaTonya has served the Summit County Community as a Juvenile Probation Officer. She has worked in the Community of Corrections for 24 years, serving adults, youth, and families who face traumatic situations such as family challenges, gun violence, incarceration, and murder.
Like you, LaTonya has had experiences that have caused pain and grief. For many years, she worked with a therapist and found success. In therapy, LaTonya learned to use the tools taught to leverage her strengths, make improvements, maintain a positive outlook on life, and help her navigate through a successful career.
Ultimately, there came the point where LaTonya needed greater assistance in handling her grief and loss beyond therapy. During a pastoral counseling session, her Pastor handed her the Grief Recovery Methods Handbook (GRM) and encouraged her to join a group at a local church.
Once LaTonya worked through GRM, she knew this was the right path for her to align with her therapy sessions. The simple, straightforward, no-nonsense approach, the GRM group sessions, and the one-on-one support from her Grief Recovery Methods Specialist made a positive impact on LaTonya.
Not only did LaTonya start to tackle and heal her current grief at the time, but GRM helped LaTonya realize how much she had previously left unresolved. The more she dove into her history with loss and found hope and healing from the GRM perspective, the greater LaTonya's desire to help others became. Creating Overcoming Hurdles of Grief, LLC, using her testimony and sharing her learning experiences, has become her passion for helping others experience their own breakthroughs
