Hi my name is Regina Thomas.  I am a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the Greater Chicago Area, specifically, the Southwest Suburbs.  I became aware of the Grief Recovery Institute while researching the stages of grief.  In my experience with facilitating work with people in crisis, I learned that many individuals I encounter, have been emotionally incapacitated due to loss of loved ones, hopes, and or dreams.  I have experienced a few major losses since completing the Grief Recovery Curriculum and found that I was able to deal more effectively with my losses than in past situations.  I have also been more effective in assisting family, friends, and clients to process through their loss issues.

I believe you have an inner strength that often goes unrecognized. Awareness of that inner strength will allow you to overcome the barriers that have prevented you from moving forward and improving your current situation. As your Grief Recovery Specialist, I will assist you to process through your losses and explore the stressors and concerns in your life.

I have experience working in crisis settings, adolescent outpatient settings, group homes and therapeutic foster care. I spent the last several years working with adult clients in outpatient settings in need of counseling for addictions, domestic violence, depression, mood disorders, grief and loss, and crisis intervention.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic methods, including The Grief Recovery Method, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Christian Counseling; each tailored to your specific needs and goals.

In addition to servicing the greater Chicago Area, I also provide video therapy for residence of the state of Illinois.
