Nicole Junkerman is a certified Death Doula, Grief Recovery Method Specialist, author, and entrepreneur. Nicole recently discovered that her role in life after raising her two amazing children was to help people transition out of this life as peacefully and positively as possible for both them and their families. Her newly formed endeavor, Positive Passing, LLC is designed to support this desire by offering education, support and resources.
In her professional life, Nicole was a police officer forced to medically retire after a career ending injury. She later managed three local cemeteries before going to work at a local funeral home where she wore many hats. Her favorite of all was that of funeral director apprentice. She was able to help many families grieve properly for the loss of their loved ones.
It was while doing this that Nicole discovered that she had not grieved properly for the loss of her law enforcement career which she truly loved. In the midst of finding her peace with this loss she wrote a children’s story titled Daddy’s Home which not only provides insight into police line of duty deaths but gave Nicole the “last call” which she never received. Writing the book was very cathartic and finally gave Nicole peace with her past.
Nicole continues to support her community and is pursuing additional certifications in Mental Health First Aid and Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) to aid in her roles as a law enforcement peer support provider and as a hospice volunteer.
