Greetings! I am Dr. Kimberly Smith-Dauterive. I am a Board Certified Internal Medicine Physician with over 20 years of experience and I treat a wide variety of symptoms, including grief. I was blessed with a heart to love people and encourage people which I’ve done for many grievers; however, it wasn’t until the death of my precious 9 year old son, Poppa, that I realized we, as a whole, have been handling grief and grievers in a totally incorrect and inappropriate manner. I tried praying. I tried reading my Bible more. I tried talking to counselors. But nothing seemed to soothe the grief, anger and frustration I was feeling inside caused by a distracted driver who veered into my family's lane hitting them head on forever changing our lives.

That is…until I went through the Grief Recovery Method Program! When I completed the GRM Program, I felt as though I was like a suitcase stuffed with burdens ready to bust at the seams that had finally been completely unpacked. I felt so much lighter! And while I am still sad that I don’t get to continue to nurture and love on my baby boy physically and while I still miss him tremendously, I don’t feel so crushed, lost and weak. I can now smile and get out of the bed every morning and I am able to live my life fulfilling the purpose that God has laid out for me. That’s why I became a Grief Recovery Method Specialist! And I am excited to be able to share this program with you so you too can be free of the emotional prison grief locks us up in and be able to live your life with peace and purpose as well.

I am located in New Iberia, LA and can easily be reached from any of the surrounding areas: Iberia Parish, St. Mary Parish, St. Martin Parish and Lafayette Parish. I currently offer the following programs: Grief Recovery Method--group sessions (in-person) and Grief Recovery Method--individual sessions (in-person and online) and I am in the process of obtaining my certification for Grief Recovery Method-group sessions (online), Helping Children with Loss Program and Pet Loss Program.
