Hello my name is Jordan Mealey and I live in Hunterdon County, New Jersey. I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of New Jersey, as well as a Board Certified Counselor through the National Board of Certified Counselors. I have worked in NJ public schools and both inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities serving children/adolescents, adults, and families. I currently work with adolescents and adults who are struggling with their own mental health conditions and looking for positive change in their lives. I am extremely grateful to be focusing on grief/loss work through the Grief Recovery Method, to be an emotional guide with others to find their healing and acceptance of loss(es).
In 2018, I was offered the opportunity to begin my training in the Grief Recovery Method. I was motivated to take this offer at the time for my client population who was having challenges feeling complete in their lives and feeling purpose, partly due to a loss they were grieving simultaneously. The training also gave me the safe place to process my own loss and it was emotionally ground breaking!
I truly believe in the Grief Recovery Method, as an evidenced-based program to explore and uncover emotional attachment to all different kinds of losses. This program allows a person a safe, nonjudgmental environment to be able to be emotionally honest and strive for peace in their past and current relationships. People have an opportunity to learn more about their own patterns of behavior related to coping, managing, and recognizing changes.
I provide one-to-one and group Grief Recovery programs, as well as the four-session program on Helping Children with Loss, using the book When Children Grieve also written by John W. James and Russell Friedman. The Grief Recovery Method can also be taught through professional workshops, seminars, informational sessions, or community/school meetings.
