Caryl Tipton, CGRS
I’m so glad you found this site and so sorry for reasons that brought you here. I won't say "I know how you feel", because I don't. And, neither does anyone else. Grief is a natural process and an individual process. It would be a privilege to work with you and guide you in your grief journey.
Here's a little about me:
I have always been called to walk with people in their grief and times of transition. After college, I trained and worked on the crisis intervention line CONTACT. This started me on a path that would weave in and out of my life until now. After performing as a singer in NYC and working as an orchestra manager, I realized I wanted something more...something where I could help people and nurture this calling from within. I remembered my work with CONTACT and how meaningful and satisfying it was to help those who were grieving and living with the grief that was never resolved.
Pursuing this, I managed and developed the HELPLINE Crisis Intervention Service in Santa Barbara, CA. I managed, trained volunteers for HELPLINE and provided presentations and training about suicide prevention and grief in the community.
Later, in New Jersey, I served as the Volunteer and Bereavement Coordinator for the VNA Community Hospice in Trenton, NJ. In this position, I developed and trained volunteers, as well as provided Bereavement Support Groups for hospice families and the community. It was the most satisfying work I'd ever done.
Now, certified as an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist, through one-on-one sessions online, based on the "Grief Recovery Method", I can help those grieving move through pain and loss as they heal and incorporate whatever transition they are experiencing, together.
Grief is known as the conflicting feelings that accompany any change in a familiar pattern. By this definition, we have all been (and possibly still are) grievers. Whether it’s death, divorce, a change in jobs, a diagnosis, moving, family estrangement or finances, feelings of grief and loss can be overwhelming and difficult to work through.
Often times unresolved grief holds us back in ways in which we are unaware. Many of our struggles in life have to do with grief and recovery issues that were never dealt with. How we learned to grieve limits us today. Much of emotional loss that was "unresolved" inhibits us from the joy and fulfillment we seek. We have a choice of continuing to carry these in an unhealthy way or to take action. Taking action can free us of the emotional burdens of the past.
Did you ever hear the saying, "You cannot change the direction of the wind...but you can adjust the sails."? I will be on the journey of adjusting your sails after a loss. You can survive grief, and you can grow from it, if you are committed to doing the work. My goal is to share the tools that grievers need to move from merely surviving to thriving. I won’t promise to take away your grief, but I will be a companion on your journey through loss, and a guide in helping you become complete. With intention, patience and love, you can live a new life with purpose and a different kind of happiness!
Currently I am only providing one-on-one sessions online. I offer a no-obligation initial consultation. I hope to offer groups soon.
Here are a few comments from clients who have worked with me:
“You helped me learn how to live WITH my grief, instead of IN it.”
“GRM empowered me to grow and incorporate my grief into my life in ways I hadn’t before.”
“GRM was the one thing that really made the difference for me.”
"Therapy helped me find out what I was feeling...GRM helped me to actively move through and live with the feelings."
