Thank you for visiting my link. I live in Reno, NV have a BS Degree in Human Services Management, am a parent educator, and became a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist in September 2019. I completed the online Grief Recovery Specialist Certification in August 2023 to allow me to expand my services to the online community. There is a saying “you can only do what you know” most people have not been instructed on how to process their grief.  Some are aware that they have grief but don’t know what to “do with it”, some like myself, were not even aware that the reason they are restlless, have difficulty concentrating, and that their busyness is related to unresolved grief.  The Grief Recovery Method provides the tools to work on any type of loss.  I provide in person 1-1 or Group support to those in the Northern Nevada area Reno and surrounding areas.  I also provide 1-1 online or group Grief Recovery.  I offer groups for Loss, Helping Children with Loss, and Pet Loss.

I hope my story will inspire you to see the benefits of working with a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist. I understand the impact loss/grief can have on a person’s life and have found the tools I learned from the Grief Recovery Method helpful to work through several types of losses. My journey includes the loss of my father at the age of 9, mother in 1992, my sister who died unexpectantly at the age of 45 in 2013, my brother who died of Cancer in 2016, my last sibling died in 2018 - I was his caretaker and the one to find him.  In addition, working through the death and divorce of my former husband that died in May 2022, we were married for 20 years and divorced for 20 years - I did not realize I had many unfinished emotional statements that are now complete. My former husband and brother were also both Veterans that served in Vietnam and expereienced health issues related to their time spent in service.

As a mother, grandmother, and parent educator I found the Helping Children with Loss program invaluable and how it can be a wonderful prevention tool and desire to teach as many people as I can in order to provide anyone that has an impact on a child's life with this great resource.  I can attest that “time” does not heal; it is the "time put into your healing that makes a difference". I now understand where my “busyness” comes from and the feeling of needing to "pull away" rather than allow myself to be comforted by others as I learned early on to "Grieve Alone" and to "Be Strong" for others.  I did not realize I was going through the motions but not fully present as grief can be paralyzing and numb a person to things around them, you wake up and find that you had not realized that you stopped doing what you once enjoyed. I now have tools that have helped me to live a more productive life, to be present and live in the moment instead of being stuck in the past.  I have more focus, and am not dominated by the pain associated with my losses and have been able to return to some of the activities I used to enjoy and even try new ones!

I am thankful for those I have worked with on the death of their pet. For me it was the last piece of the puzzle that connected everything for me to understand my relationship with my own pets and people over the years. I learned at an early age to detach and not allow myself to get close to pets or people knowing that they will die or disappear. My love was present, but my heart was guarded. Working through my own pet loss has allowed me to let down the walls and to be able to love in new and different ways. I really miss my dog if I must leave him and am genuinely happy to see him when I return.

I know the importance of having a safe place to process your grief and to honor your true feelings rather than pretending everything is ok when you’re hurting inside.  Grief is cumulative and builds up over time, which can greatly influence the quality of your life, including ability to perform at work, outside of work, and the impact grief has on relationships.

I provide a safe place for people to come and receive validation for their true feelings and emotions, while helping to navigate and process the pain associated with their loss and seeing the positive results it has on their lives brings me immense joy. The Grief Recovery Method provides tools to help say goodbye to the pain associated with your loss such as undelivered communication, unmet hopes, dreams and expectations along with what you may have liked to be different, better or more in a safe environment.  The Grief Recovery Method is an evidence-based program that has been in use for over 40 years to help you process and complete whatever loss you may be experiencing.

For more information on groups or working individually, please call or text me at 775-530-4216 to set up a free consultation and to learn more about the Grief Recovery Method and how I can help you begin the process of saying Goodbye to your pain and move toward healing.
