Candace became a certified Grief Recovery Specialist in 2017. Residing Hinton, Alberta in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Candace is able to provide in person Grief Recovery Sessions in Edson, Hinton, Grande Cache and Jasper and is currently increasing her reach to the world, with online groups and one on one offerings.
Candace is a Metis grandmother with a Social work and Addictions Counselling background and strong Indigenous roots and expreience. She raised her children on her own, always sharing the teachings from her Grandmother and Aunties. Candace has knowledge and experience, both personal and educational, in Indian Residential Schools and the Truth and Reconcilliation Commission, Indigenous culture, traditions and protocols. She is passionate not only about reconcilliation, but the opportunity to address the immense losses resulting from attending Indian Residential Schools by those with lived experiences and their families.
Candace has experienced many losses herself, including relationships, job loss, traumatic life experiences and more throughout her life. She is passionate about sharing what she has learned through Grief Recovery with as many people as she is able to reach, and to date has completed Grief Recovery with over 300 people. Candace's Grief Recovery groups address loss in group form and online.
Regardles of the type of loss: pet loss, relationship loss, loss of health or and mobility, death, an estranged relationship or loved one experiencing the trauma of addiction, the Grief Recovery method can assist you in processing these losses in a safe and healthy manner.
Additional professional learning opportunities are available for those supporting children who have experienced loss, including professionals, FCSS, special contract workers, teachers or anyone supporting children or youth through their grief. This 4 week program is called Helping Children with Loss.
Candace is prepared to assist you in your journey, to hear of your experiences and listen to whatever it is you are feeling, then to help you to process that with the Grief Recovery Method.
