Aloha, my name is Ashley Wolfe and I am very passionate about helping support families in grief. The Grief Recovery Method has been instrumental personally in helping me complete the unsaid messages of love and pain in relationships with my deceased grandfather, our baby we never got to meet, and the intangible relationships with my body and changes of faith.
I have been a Certified Child Life Specialist since 2007 working in hospital and hospice settings helping children and their families emotionally through therapeutic play activities, educational coaching and support groups. Specializing in palliative and grief support, I have witnessed the importance of developmentally appropriate grief education and safe emotional expression helping families grieve together. In 2021, I became an Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist and am now able to combine my education and years of clinical experience with this evidence based practice. I have been an adjunct professor of therapeutic play at Central Washington University and have enjoyed supervising many child life students throughout my career. A lifelong learner, I am committed to my own personal and professional growth maintaining professional credentials and memberships including the National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG). A mom of three boys, I enjoy playing and hiking outside with them and recognize that they are some of my greatest teachers. I believe that grief is a universal and natural experience that doesn’t need to be “cured” but rather companioned.
I have recently published my first children's book about grief called, "My Journey with The Wind, A magical story of grief." This book is about a child whose brother died and in their grief they embark on a magical journey coming to realize that the bond they thought was lost still continues in their love for each other. At the end of the book there is an interactive activity section for parents, teachers or other caregivers to engage with and help the child/children learn and express their own grief experiences.
I am currently offering The Grief Recovery Method in person on Oahu and virtually 1-1. Soon I will be offering virtual and in-person group support for adults and the 4 week Helping Children with Loss program. It would be an honor to companion you in your grief, please email or call me to connect.
