Louise's personal experiences and the way she talks about her own loss closely mirrors how I felt, and so it made me feel that no matter what I said I would be understood. I like that at the start of every session she would ask us about challenges and wins, although sometimes I didn't think I had anything in a category. I might have liked more chances to speak about our feelings, even though that isn't a step in the program.

This program has hugely worked for me in helping me navigate through the tragic loss of my young little pup. I needed something but was not quite sure what to help me cope with the sudden loss and devastation bestowed upon me. The program guides you through the grieving process allowing you to process going forward in your life without your pet. I completed homework throughout while also completing reading the grief recovery book for pet loss. I think of all the good memories I have for my pet now, with love in my heart not just replaying what happened him on that faithful day. It is the best thing I've ever done to help me heal in a positive way.

The grief recovery method navigated and supported a journey I had to take from pet carer to pet loss. It gave me the strength to hold difficult conversations and make decisions that needed to be made, although heartbreaking and painful. It allowed me to more fully embrace to support and kindness from friends, family and colleagues and make positive steps to remember my dog in happier times.

I had never heard of the Grief Recovery Method before I took part in the eight-week program. While I was dealing (or not dealing) with loss associated with bereavement I had not been looking for help at the time. The opportunity to take part in this course arose quite by chance but I took it gladly. I did not know what to expect but I found the facilitator, Louise Griffey, to be extremely professional, respectful, caring, honest and approachable. She guided me through all the steps of the program, explained all the main principles in depth, demonstrated these with her work on her own personal losses and answered any questions I had with patience and understanding. I found the completion of a loss-history graph to be an eye-opening experience and it enabled me to choose my first relationship to work on in depth. This turned-out to be different from the one I had initially selected. The work on the relationship graph helped me to identify both positive and negative experiences from my past which have affected me throughout my life in one way or another. While I cannot speak to the motivations of the person to whom this relates, it helped me to try to understand why they said or did the things they did and to realise the impact these had on me. I felt very privileged to be part of a small group of other women who shared their own losses with me. I looked forward to our Monday night meetings and felt that I was in a safe place with people I could trust and who listened to me with compassion and without judgement. I highly recommend this program to anyone suffering their own loss and I will be recommending my facilitator, Louise Griffey, to my family, friends and colleagues. I look forward to using the skills I have learnt to work on more of my own losses. Thank you for everything!

The program has given me tools to complete relationships that have knowingly or unknowingly weighed me down. It is very empowering and I am very grateful.

I was anxious to start the program, though hindsight is a great thing. If I had known how beneficial the program was going to be to me; how safe, supportive and special the journey and fellow journey takers would be to me - I would have left the anxiety at the door. The program takes you through brave steps and gives you time, tools and abilities to work on your grief, or the different grief weights you are carrying in the such a powerful way. Our facilitator was a calm, pillar of strength and example and guided us in a way that felt like she was holding our hand but lifting us up to do the important work we were there to do independently. Its a beautiful thing to feel so supported and so independent at the same time.
