Hi, I'm Tonya and I decided to become a Grief Recovery Specialist to help people in this maze of grief after losing my husband.
My husband was diagnosed with esophageal cancer July 2017 and the battle began. The battle was not just with cancer but with how to treat the cancer. My husband chose to take the natural path only and I pushed for standard western medicine along with some natural modalities. Ultimately, it was his choice on what to do with his body, so I supported him any way I could. Going through the cancer battle while having a child still at home was challenging as a wife and a mother. Our youngest daughter was a sophomore in High School when the battle began and she kept focusing on him being there to see her graduate. Helping them navigate this battle all while still trying to maintain some sort of normalcy can leave a person drained emotionally, physically and spiritually.
The battle was won when God gracefully gave him his wings June 2019; the day of our daughters graduation.
I went through the 8 week grief recovery session July 2019 and it allowed me to free myself from how I was taught to deal with grief. It showed me how to live again and not be stuck in unmet hopes, dreams and expectations. This method allowed me to show my daughter healthy ways to grieve, by example not just in words.
Grief does not have to ruin your life nor does it have to leave you broken beyond repair. I would be honored to help you break free of old paradigms regarding grief and give you hope to live and love again.
I am offering GRM services/programs in the Wayne/Westland and Plymouth/Canton areas.
The tools learned inspired me to want to help others. I would love to help you through this journey.
