Hi, I’m Melissa Maskell.
I’m called to this work because I struggled so hard to find any happiness after the death of my father. I watched my friend bury her 8 year old son I had no clue how to support her. I had to figure out how to go keep going.
I do this work now because it helps me cope with my losses in a healthy way instead of wrong ways I was taught.
In the past, I felt helpless after loss. I don’t want my children to feel that way when they experience loss.
I’ll teach them how to accumulate things, and how to lose them. My children will inevitably lose me. But first, I will leave a lasting impact that will help guide them through the pain instead of getting stuck in it.
I spread the message of Grief Recovery and share my energy with caregivers, parents, teachers - all who will listen. My dream is to create a community of adults and kids who are able to dodge addiction and/or depression by learning new belief systems and healthy coping mechanisms for loss and grief.
