About The Format

This program is taught in four 2.5 hour long sessions offered once a week. There is reading and assignments in between sessions. HCWL Groups are not drop in style groups. All GRM programs are structured and action oriented.

A Note From The Presenter:

Helping Children with Loss is a four-week educational workshop designed to teach adults how to support children and young people as they process grief and give voice to the emotionally important things they need to say regarding the losses they have experienced or are currently experiencing. Participants learn the skills, tools, and important language to use with young grievers that validates their feelings and encourages them to talk openly about their grief. This program is beneficial to people who work with children (teachers, school counselors, EA's, youth workers, coaches, daycare providers) as well as those who have children of their own, or grandchildren.

Sandy Vanderveen, GRMS

I have called the Comox Valley home for most of my life. I am an Advanced Grief Recovery Method specialist who supports individuals and groups as they work through grief caused by a death, divorce, pregnancy loss, unexpected pregnancy, relationship breakdown, past trauma, mental health struggles, loss of health, and many other loss events. Grief is the common thread in all of these losses.

As a GRM specialist I support those in their grief recovery journey as they identify the areas where grief is holding them back from joy, and as they move from pain and isolation towards acceptance and peace.

The Grief Recovery Method is an 8 week action-orientated program designed to support participants as they complete the pain, isolation and loneliness...
