I have always had a deep desire to support people to live their best lives. In the year 2000, my family and I moved to a new community, lost my father to cancer and my brother to suicide all in the span of four months. After my brother's death, I attended counselling for a few sessions and found that talking about my grief didn't feel like it was helping me to move forward. I decided that the way to recover from grief was to put it out of my mind and just "get over it". For the next several years I put one foot in front of the other and got on with life, thinking that I had effectively dealt with these losses. As part of my work I facilitated training for our local hospice organization and became very interested in helping people deal with grief. I participated in a Grief Recovery Method® program that changed my life and finally helped me to complete my loss relationship with my brother.
During my 15 years as an Early Childhood Educator and my 20 years working with adults with disabilities, as well as my volunteer work on the board of our local women's shelter combined with my own experience, I have seen the results of incomplete grief in a person's life. I have learned first-hand the benefit of completing that grief through the Grief Recovery Method.
I am currently facilitating, in-person Grief Recovery Method® sessions in Kincardine, ON and surrounding areas in Bruce and Grey Counties and on-line world wide. I offer Grief Recovery Method® Grief Support Groups (in person and on-line), Grief Support 1 on 1 (in person and on-line), Helping Children With Loss (in person and on-line) and Pet Loss Support Groups.
