From Darkness to Light
I'm a CHamoru woman, born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam, a U.S. Territory in the middle of the Pacific Islands. I have a huge heart and passion to change lives wherever I go. I became a widow at the young age of 37. My Super Power is being a mommy to my now adult-child who is in college. I have walked through darkness after experiencing the death of my husband Reed, and have felt tremendous emotional pain and grief. Through this darkness I found light and hope in my grief journey and I now use my lived-experiences to help others heal and recover. I live my life and serve others with a mighty purpose guided by my faith and relationship with God.
I love traveling and collecting memories and magnets. I love baking and crafting. I love being with people I love especially my daughter. I believe that "everyday life- whatever that may be - is a celebration. My road to healing and recovery has led me to endless opportunities to help grievers find their voice to tell their stories and take correct action steps in their own personal healing and recovery journey.
This joy didn't come without paying the price of trying to heal with the incorrect tools. It wasn't until I completed the Grief Recovery Method that I realized how detrimental my expected coping skills were to my growth and recovery. I am thankful for this program that helped me to realize that I wasn't wrong for feeling sad and scared and that I can once again find joy in my life to honor my husband's memories. Life is good and brighter with occassionl darkness but now I have the tools to guide me out of the dark. I can help.
With Love,
Michelle
