Hello! I am Dr. Cynthia Tyson, but you can call me Dr. C. I am a Professor, a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision Designation, a National End-of-Life Association (NEDA) Death Doula, and a certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist. Holding a master's degree in education, a Doctor of Philosophy in Education, and a Master's degree in Social Work from The Ohio State University, I've been deeply immersed in educational and healing endeavors in personal and professional contexts for over 20 years.
Upon completing the Grief Recovery Method® training, I was deeply moved by its evidence-based approach, which also supports equity in grief work. This profound experience allowed me to merge my love for teaching and my innate desire to assist others in their healing journey. The method equips individuals with the tools to foster awareness, healing, and insight into the heartbreak of loss, regardless of life's circumstances.
I offer support programs for young adults aged 14-18 and adults, which include group sessions, one-on-one consultations, and an online Grief Recovery Method. Additionally, I am certified to facilitate the four-session program "Helping Children with Loss," using the book "When Children Grieve: For Adults to Help Children Deal with Death, Divorce, Pet Loss, and Moving and Other Losses." As a licensed therapist, I can also accept insurance. Please reach out to me to check if your insurance can cover your fees.
