This program taught me to look at grief in a different way than I had before- there are specific components that I can control when I was feeling out of control.

This program helped me look for and identify specific feelings/emotions that were associated with specific areas where communications had not been complete for me. I also saw this happen over time with one of my group partners who started out just with anger, but at the end was able to identify specific feelings. For him I believe the program helped him significantly in learning to translate his anger into more relevant feelings that he could then address.

For years, I carried the pain of the loss of my Mother. I come from a home of abuse and with that come also much pain. That too revolved around my mom. She was no so much the abuser as she too was being abused, but as a child I never could understand why she did not protect me. Taking this course helped me to see that she did the best she knew to do given her circumstances. This course helped me to forgive, apologize, and acknowledge her in ways I would have never thougt before. This course gave me the tools required to heal and let go of pain that I have carried deep inside for many years. I will recommend this course to others becuase we all suffer from loss and grief.

This program helped me identify where my grief was coming from so that I could deal with the grief. It helped me identify and understand my STERBs. It helped me to understand why I had so much anxiety around Thanksgiving. It helped me to identify the triggers that led to my depression and anxiety. The class helped me to let go of these burdens and be freed from them.

I have piece of mind now, knowing that life will continue and I want to be a part of that. I will never forget the relationship, but needed something to help me cope.

This along with another program I am currently working helped me resolve some resentment. I am now able to not live as a victim of my childhood.

The grief recovery program helped me face the reality of my loss, feelings that I had refused to face for years, and the chance of forgiveness where I thought there was none. It was the first time I had contemplated what life without chronic emotional pain would look like and it gave me the courage to hope for a better and more fulfilling life. The material not only helped me personally, but also helped me know how to better respond to my family, my friends, and my clients who experience life loss and transitions.

I understood grief in the "traditional" sense of the "stages". Anger THEN depression, etc. The GRM helped me to understand why I was never comfortable with the stages and was often shamed if I felt something other that what I was 'supposed' to at the 'time' I was supposed to feel it. I was able to work through MY grief without feeling ashamed. The format of the homework helped me to understand what I was feeling and why and what to do with it in a constructive manner. I was able to grieve over my loss but had tangible information in which to move forward in a healthy way.
