Testimonials For Helping Children With Loss
I will use what I have learned to help my family, friends, students, myself, my future kids, and others process grief in a healthy way. I will no longer say any of the "comforting" but overwhelmingly unhelpful myths that are typically said when there is a loss. I will try to educate the ones around me about what I have learned in order to hopefully change many people's mindsets on grief and coping with loss.

This program opened my eyes to situations in my own life that I didn’t even know had affected me. It made me realize why I behave and respond to different situations the way I do because of previous experiences. I feel further prepared to handle situations and comfort people who are dealing with loss because of this program. As a future educator, I felt the information presented during the program is essential for my future career. Truly I think everyone, no matter their career, should go through this program. I am very grateful for what I have learned, and know I will be a better at my job because of this program.

This program worked really well for me. The loss graph really summarized my life well~ high highs and low lows. It really brought to awareness that I desire more of the middle way and that it is within my power to create it. Carleen Ross created a safe space for me to voice and process this. She also assisted me with processing the emotions that came with completing a grief for someone who is still very much alive.

I have a special needs son that is 5. He has autism and nonverbal. During the class we lost my sister and brother-in-law.to covid. He was very attached to them. He saw them several times a week. I was overwhelmed with grief, but I needed help for him. How it turned out was by helping him I was also helped myself. Bing able to talk to the teacher for advice outside of class was so huge!!!

This program has made me to evaluate the way I handled grief in the past and help me make significant changes in how I view my mental anguish during loss and traumatic situations. I have a child who has autism and he is the reason I took the class. After what I learned from this book, even though he is non-verbal, I have adapted the lessons into pictures and unwritten expressions, that he may understand what feelings he is expressing and why. Rex Cearley made himself accessible throughout the whole program and has encouraged us to take the Grief Recovery Method on top of the Helping Children with Loss. This will be a long haul for my family, but I now feel a weight off my shoulders, because of the way the class was presented and the information it contained. Looking forward to the Grief Recovery Method!

Helping Children with Loss was an eye opening course for me. It not only gave me insight on how to help my son but on my own grief issues. I plan to go through The Greif Recovery Method at a later date and i am already suggesting the courses and books to other people.

This program overall helped me understand that there are different types of losses besides death. Children struggle with losses that majority of the time we don't see as a loss.

I did not come grieving, instead, my employer required the training. I was plesantly surprised that so much of the book and trainings gave me so much insight into parenting. Also, I was able to write a letter to my grandma, and that has helped heal me. I truly loved the program!

I feel much more equipped to help a child working through the grieving process. I have learned the proper things to do and say and what to avoid doing or saying.

I just finished the training so I haven't been able to put any of the concepts to practice, but the program did help give me more concrete things to say when working with someone who is grieving and to be aware of your own feelings or thoughts related to a common loss.

My daughter was struggling with my divorce. Hounaïda helped me understand my old way of grieving and gave me effective tools to help my daughter: how to communicate with her, what to say and what to do. I am very grateful that this program exists and I highly recommend Hounaïda as a GRM specialist. She's the best!

With this program being a training exercise and not a recovery program, there was some activities that seemed not-relevant as the group was not in an active recovery state but rather a learning state. Most of us are sitting in our offices, or a shared space, needing to go to classes/meetings within minutes of the program ending. This makes it difficult to 1. be vulnerable and 2. understand the full experience.
