I was introduced to Grief Recovery Method during my clinical residency for professional chaplaincy. My supervisor recommended to our class that we become certified specialist in Grief Recovery Method because in her experience, the majority of hospitalized people will be managing deeply rooted grief and loss issues. In my ten years of experience as a chaplain, I have found my supervisor's observations to be true.
My personal experience with Grief Recovery Method can be described as having a weight lifted. Looking back, I believe that even though I intellectually had a good handle on the suffering and the losses in my past, it wasn't until I worked on my past with the curriculum provided by The Grief Recovery Institute that I was able to emotionally reconcile the significant losses which had given me the sense of an undercurrent of sadness for most of my life. This was a growing sadness which seemed to cause me to feel more and more powerless as I continued live and experience new losses and share in other people's loss experiences through my profession. Since my Grief Recovery Method support group training, I feel as if I have been enlivened to move forward in relationships and in life. I have also noticed that as I continue to apply the tools provided through the program, my capacity for happiness and sense of empowerment continue to expand. I would be honored to join you in your journey of learning to apply the tools from The Grief Recovery Method(R) program to your unique experiences of loss.
