After completing my Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance in 1982, I had been offering grief support for over two decades as a professional counselor when I learned about the Grief Recovery Method in 2014. When I recognized the effectiveness of the Grief Recovery Method, I encouraged my fiancée to become a Certified Grief Recovery Method Specialist (CGRMS) that same year. Fast forward to 2021 during the COVID pandemic, when my kid brother, my father, and my sister died from different causes in a 35-day period, I put the Grief Recovery Method to a personal test by going through the training to become a CGRMS. By applying the method to support my grief over each death one at a time, I was more convinced than ever about the unique capacity of the Grief Recovery Method for supporting people through the pain of grief.
