George Velarde, Pastor
George was a pastor at christian church in the Reno/Sparks area from 2003-2020. Though he is no longer pastoring in a full-time capacity, he still is actively caring for hurting individuals through the Grief Recovery Method (GRM) in the Reno/Sparks area. In 2016, a congregant gave George a copy of the Grief Recovery Handbook and strongly encouraged him to learn this method of helping individuals deal with loss. Upon reading it, he realized some of the incorrect information he had been using to minister to people. Now as a Certified Grief Recovery Specialists, he is excited to use this method, which he finds is completely congruent with biblical standards, to properly help persons of all faiths heal from the pain associated with death and loss.

This program is for people who prefer to work one-on-one rather than in a group setting. The 7-session format utilizes the same proven materials as the group programs and can be completed in-person with a Grief Recovery Method Specialist specifically trained to help people move through loss with dignity and respect.
Our support groups offer a safe, evidence-based environment for grievers to take effective and lasting action, no matter the type of loss experienced. These groups are led by Grief Recovery Method Specialists, trained and certified by the Grief Recovery Institute.
