I am a former military spouse (GO NAVY!) who has had the amazing honor of living in and visiting several different countries in this world. The experience has taught me that no matter where I have been privileged to live, there is something that is universal in every race and ethnicity, in every region of the world; everyone grieves.
During my 21-year stint as a military wife and stay-at-home mom to my beautiful and well-rounded daughters, I earned a doctorate degree in Religious Philosophy with a concentration in Christian Counseling from Logos University in 2007. It was the death of my son, William Brandon, at birth in 1999 that led me to pursue a degree in counseling and fueled my heart and pressing call to specifically offer grief counseling.
My journey to Grief Recovery Method began after the death of my late husband who passed away in May 2021. His death added a whole other level of emotional complexity to the fact that our 23-year marriage was over and we were in the official process of dissolution of marriage. I convinced myself that I was emotionally "fine" and didn't need any grief counseling ; that I had already grieved the death of my marriage and therefore it was okay to remain angry when he died. About 6 months after my husband passed I remembered that a friend of mine mentioned that she was a Grief Recovery specialist and I searched the internet for more information. Deciding to go through the method has, by far, been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was able to become complete in my feelings and recover from the grief and negativity regarding my relationship/marriage with my late husband and am now able to freely and truly live as well as not be afraid to take the necessary steps to recover from the grief of any loss that life tosses my way.
As I worked to become a GRM specialist and then on to become certified as an advanced specialist, I have come to realize that my experience and the lessons I gleaned are to be used to hold space for other grievers like me. So, becoming an advanced specialist is not just about another certificate or my love for learning. I am PASSIONATE about being the vessel to hold space for grievers who have experienced the loss of their intimate partner relationship prior to death and giving them permission to grieve when their partner dies, and the griever does not feel they have the right to grieve. I am also honored to hold space specifically for postpartum-post mortem loss for grievers who have lost a child at/after birth.
I WOULD LOVE to guide you through the method and lead you to the same freedom and inner peace via online, one-on-one sessions from the privacy and comfort of your own space. Grant me the honor of helping you become complete with your loss.
