My name is Dr. Edna V. Bell and I am a proud Native of Chester, Pennsylvania. My drive to help grievers comes out of my own personal losses. Back in 2008, my life took a major turn after the sudden passing of my aunt who had a tremendous impact on my life. It took weeks to stop crying every minute of the day or at least it felt like every minute of the day. One of my aunts encouraged me to go talk with my pastor and I did just that. He was able to provide me with Biblical context, prayer and validate the way I was navigating through my grief. It was at the moment that I realized that the above was very helpful but there was a piece missing. So I started to research grief programs and I found the Grief Recovery Method and the rest is history.
I provide individual and group session in the Tri-State area which is Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey. I also provide sessions with adults, school officials and local agencies that want to help children navigate through the grieving process. Lastly, I have been invited on panel discussions and podcasts to discuss effective ways to grieve.
I am currently employed as a Clinician for adults with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities and various Mental Health diagnoses. In addition, I works as a Behavior Consultant and Mobile Therapist with children, adolescents and their families. I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Immaculata University in 2013. My dissertation is Titled, The Perceived Need of Psychological Services in the African American Church and Pastor’s Preparation. I felt compelled to research this area as I noticed the outgrowing need for services within the church. I am looking forward to incorporating mental health services within the church by starting with my home church and later branching out to other churches.
